Hello,
My name is Luis Landi, I’m an Italian citizen currently living in Portugal.
I run a Portuguese-registered company, which provides services for small businesses.
I’m looking to provision Italian geographic phone numbers (+39 local DIDs) for my customers in Italy. Each customer would need their own local number (e.g., +39 02 Milano, +39 035 Bergamo, +39 030 Brescia) that receives voice calls and forwards via SIP to our server.
MY SITUATION:
- Italian citizen (I have an Italian passport and Codice Fiscale)
- Resident in Portugal (no current Italian residential address)
- Portuguese-registered company (with Portuguese NIF/VAT)
- No Italian company registration or Partita IVA
I understand Italian geographic numbers require an Italian address proof in the area matching the number’s prefix. Since I don’t currently have a residential address in Italy, I’ve been researching options and would like to understand which of these would be accepted by your regulatory process:
OPTION 1 — ITALIAN VIRTUAL OFFICE / DOMICILIATION
I can get a “domiciliazione sede legale” (legal seat domiciliation) in Milan through services like sedelegalevirtuale.it or sedelegale.pro. This gives me a real Milan business address with a signed domiciliation contract (contratto di domiciliazione).
Would this contract be accepted as proof of address?
OPTION 2 — UTILITY BILL FROM A FAMILY MEMBER
I have family in the Milan/Bergamo area. They could provide a recent utility bill (gas, electricity) showing an address in the correct area.
Would a utility bill under a family member’s name be accepted if combined with my Italian passport and a declaration of hospitality (dichiarazione di ospitalità)?
Or must the utility bill be strictly in my name or my company’s name?
OPTION 3 — REGUS / INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED VIRTUAL OFFICE
I can get a Regus virtual office in Milan, which provides a business address with a formal service agreement.
Would a Regus service agreement be accepted?
OPTION 4 — REGISTER AS AN INDIVIDUAL (not a company)
Since I’m an Italian citizen with a Codice Fiscale, could I register as a private individual instead of a business? The requirements seem lighter for individuals (passport + tax ID + address proof).
If so, which address proof documents do you accept for individuals?
MY QUESTIONS:
- Which of the four options above would you accept for Italian geographic number activation?
- Does the address need to be in MY name specifically, or can it be a company address or a family member’s address?
- Can a Portuguese company with an Italian virtual office address provision Italian geographic DIDs, or must it be an Italian company?
- How long does regulatory approval typically take once documents are submitted?
- Do you offer SIP trunking so I can forward calls to my server (hosted in Frankfurt, EU)?
- Do you have an API for automated number provisioning? I expect to need 5-50 numbers over the next 6-12 months.
I’m ready to start immediately and happy to provide any documentation needed. I just want to make sure I understand the requirements before purchasing a virtual office or gathering documents.
Thank you for your help,
Luis Landi
