So purchasing a USA number from Flynumber, as written ‘All USA numbers are SMS enabled, except toll free’.
the Viper app replied: “Error. Sorry, you cannot activate Viper using a landline number. Please try to activate Viber using a regular cell phone number”
So what did I purchase wrong???
Sorry to hear and this isn’t really something we can control however we’ve seen some success with 347 New York numbers being listed as “mobile” with this 3rd party tool.
We just sent you a 347 (on us) for you to test out.

I did try with the 347 number, and again the Viper app gave the same message.

Sorry for the delay and before we try one more US number is there the possibility for your Viber app to accept non-US numbers?
Leave things as it is since I understand that a USA Flynumber may not be ‘compatible’ for the Viper app.
I tried 2 alternative chat apps (Whatsapp/Telegram) and SMS verification went through the Flynumber (347). So I’ll work around with those.
