Unable to receive SMS verification code for Flynumber number

Hello. I purchased US phone number and I plan to make calls with Mobilevoip app on iPhone. I’m using Cheapvoip as a VOIP provider which is found inside the Mobilevoip app. Problem is, when I try to verify my flynumber number, I’m unable to receive any SMS messages. I’m also unable to make verification by call.

I’ve enabled forward by email in my flynumber account settings and I can’t find messages in my Gmail. I’ve checked spam/junk mails too and it’s not there.

So, is there a way I can get my phone verified?

I’ve checked our system and we don’t see any SMS messages coming to your number in our logs. This likely means the verification messages from MobileVoIP/CheapVoIP are not reaching our network at all.

US numbers from FlyNumber do support incoming SMS, but its still up to the sender to actually send the text.

A few things you can try:

  1. Contact MobileVoIP/CheapVoIP support to ask if they allow verification with virtual/VoIP numbers.
  2. See if they offer an alternative verification method, such as email or “Verify by Phone Call.”
  3. Try using a different service that’s known to be compatible with virtual numbers.

Ok, got it. I’ll contact them and see if they’ll help out sorting the issue. In the meantime, got any other services that you know that works with SMS messages for sure?

Alright, I got response from Voipcheap and here’s what they said:

Dear customer,

You need to be able to receive the verify call/message personally and directly otherwise the number can not be verified. The verify calls seem to result in a busy, we an not influence this and you need to solve this with your provider.

Basically, they can’t help resolve the issue which is very disappointing from them.

I tried to look for alternative service providers and came across Zoiper. I have read this guide and it looks like if I want to get SIP credentials, I have to pay for Phone System which is $14.95/month which I cannot afford it.

Does that mean if I want to use Zoiper, I have to pay for Phone System too?

No you can use a solution like this with Zoiper without using the phone system.

Alright, here’s an update of my situation:

I followed the guide you posted about setting up the Zoiper app and SIP2SIP. While I managed to create an account, I ran into a problem.

In Zoiper networking settings, the registration status will fail if I change Transports to TCP and disable STUN. And if I change Transports back to UDP, the registration status will succeed, however, I won’t be able to make calls.

Any idea how to get around this issue?
