The Country Code does not show from the receiver's POV when I call

Hi, I tried calling my friend and the number that showed up on her phone did not have Singapore’s country code (+65). Singapore also has a law which makes my number that begins with 3xxx xxxx marked as spam. Can I have a number that begins with a 9xxx xxxx or 8xxx xxx or 6xxx xxxx please?

I’m assuming this is because the phone number showed up as a local number for your friend, meaning the country code is dropped.

Can you try calling a phone number outside Singapore? Do you see the +65 country code?

Do you have any documentation/references on that? It could just be that the specific number is marked as spam (perhaps from a previous owner).

At the moment, SG numbers all start with 3.

The “3” that immediately follows it (making the number start with 3) is part of the national significant number (NSN), which is the number after the country code.

In Singapore, all landline numbers begin with 3 or 6, and mobile numbers usually begin with 8 or 9.

Can I convert my subscription to a toll-free number? And how much would outbound calls cost for that?

You can just cancel the current number and order a new toll-free one, rates are here.

Here are the SG toll-free rates.

Country Source Prefix Rate Connect fee
Singapore Mobile 65800 0.125 0.000
Singapore Fixed 65800 0.125 0.000

So if a mobile/landline Singaporean number called your toll-free SG Flynumber, you would pay 0.125 for each incoming minute—this is regardless of the forwarding.

Outbound phone system rates are here. (Same as if you called from the local SG number)
