I’m currently using a Dutch FlyNumber and whenever I make or receive calls, the name “WeVest Comfort” shows up, even though that’s not my business.
I would like to change the caller ID name (CNAM) to my actual business name (BuurBox)
How can I update or correct this? I’m not sure if it’s something on FlyNumber’s side or the carrier lookup system.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Hi @buurbox,
In the Netherlands, the telecom system uses CLIP (Calling Line Identification Presentation) rather than the US-based CNAM system. The name “WeVest Comfort” appearing on calls is likely stored in one of these databases:
- Local carrier databases maintained by Dutch telecom providers (KPN, Vodafone, T-Mobile/Odido)
- Number portability databases that may retain old subscriber information
- The receiving party’s carrier database which performs lookups when calls arrive
Unlike the US CNAM system, which has a centralized database, the Netherlands uses a distributed system where:
- Each carrier maintains its own subscriber database
- Names are often pulled from the original number registration
- Number portability can cause outdated information to persist
- Some carriers use CNIP (Calling Name Identification Presentation) for name display
Since FlyNumber cannot modify Dutch caller ID names (CNAM is US-only), you need to contact the carriers directly:
For example, how are you receiving the call in the screenshot? Who is the carrier?
.. KPN, Vodafone NL, or perhaps T-Mobile/Odido?
Ask them to update their caller ID database entry for your number +31 20 217 0201.
The incorrect name may only appear on certain networks, ask recipients which carrier they use - This helps identify which specific carrier database needs updating.
The display name depends on the receiving carrier’s database.
Worst case scenario, we can always change the number here, but we can’t guarantee it wasn’t listed on a database somewhere. We can send you number options before actually making the switch if that works for you.
