I applied for both an Australian mobile number and a Melbourne landline on November 10, and I’m currently experiencing two issues:
The Melbourne landline number is still showing as pending. Could you please let me know when it is expected to be activated, or if there’s anything further I need to do on my side?
The Australian mobile number shows as activated, but when I try calling the virtual number from either a Taiwan local landline or mobile, the call connects and then plays the message: “The number you dial is busy, please try again later.”
Meanwhile, the Taiwan mobile number that the call should be forwarded to does not ring or show any missed call.
However, when I send an SMS from another Taiwan mobile to the Australian virtual mobile number, the message is successfully forwarded to the designated email inbox, which suggests the SMS forwarding function is working correctly.
Could you please help check what might be causing the voice call forwarding issue?
I’ve already confirmed with the Taiwan mobile provider (Chunghwa Telecom) that no additional settings or activations are required on their end, and the number itself is functioning normally.
This number is now also active. Since the mobile number required a little more info, we wanted to get that active first. Any future orders (at least with AU) will be approved nearly instantly from here on out.
The number is active, however, because you’re calling the AU number from a Taiwan number and forwarding to another Taiwan number.
This is known as A-to-A calling (originating and terminating in the same country), and some carriers or termination providers block this type of routing because it can be misused for fraud—for example, posting an AU number online and forwarding all calls to a third party.
This is not with every FlyNumber/forwarding combination, but it can happen—that’s what happened here.
You can send the calls to VoIP, and that will never happen (Phone system, direct VoIP, etc.).
Glad to hear, and this is completely separate from calls, so this should work fine, yes.
