I finally received my new FlyNumber with German area code. I asked two local contacts in Germany to call this number. Both reported that when they dial it, it rings only once on their end and then goes silent—there is no voicemail or further instruction. On my end (the US forwarding number), the call also rings only once and then disconnects, which does not allow enough time to answer. I tried calling from a US phone my German FlyNumber and it all works fine. My US phone (forwarding number) rings several times and eventually kicks into voicemail. However, when calling my forwarding FlyNumber from a German phone, my US phone (forwarding number) rings only once and then hangs up. Is this a matter of settings, or what can be done? Thanks for help!
Hi @langenbeck,
Sorry to hear about this. Is the US number you’re sending the calls to a Google Voice number?
Not that it should be an issue (or it could just be a coincidence), but we heard of a similar issue when sending calls to a US Google Voice number.
We’ve escalated the issue as it pertains to the parties involved when sending the calls to a USA number (that leg of the call). If you forward the calls to VoIP, I imagine you’d get different results.
We should have more news soon here.
Hi, I’m using Google Fi as my cell phone provider. Both, Google Fi and Voice, are products provided by Goggle. So, it might be related to it. I was looking at your other offerings, such as Cloud Phone system, which seems to be an overkill for my needs and would add significant cost ($14.95/month) to my fairly small and personal application. I’m not quite sure what the difference between VoIP and your Cloud Phone system is. If this issue can’t be resolved, what next option do you suggest and how can I switch from my current forwarding service to it?
Hi @langenbeck,
We are looking into the forwarding issue with our downstream partners (will update you directly on this), but in the meantime, let me ask you: Are you looking to only receive calls?
If so, this may be an option for you (no phone system involved):
As far as incoming/outgoing without the phone system, this is coming soon:
